Nothing says "come join us for dinner" like grilling. There's something about hot charcoal, red meat, and guys manning the grill. It is the tipping point for any event invotation. I could have the most enticing event planned possible, but the words "grill" or "barbaque" lift up the quality and appeal of the occasion as if a famous celebrity was joining the party.
Personally, I'd grill every night if I could (and will when I move to South Carolina), always making a little more than needed to "give away" to the stranger that wanders conveniently within feet of our gathering.
So here's my ultimate (and I mean ULTIMATE) cookout situation:
Location - Grass, just thick enough to play some soccer, football, or frisbee... the soft kind (2 inches tall)
Supplies - Charcoal grill, a small tent to protect us from the sun, coolers for drinks, table and chairs for 5, blankets for the rest, and a portable sterio with country music playing
Food - Hamburgers and hotdogs (to give away to whoever wants them), t-bone steak (for me), italian sausage, grilled onions, toasted buns, hot sauces of all kinds, and cold drinks of whatever people like.
People - I like a group of 7 guys... it's a magical number... but more is nice
Entertainment - Georgia Bulldog football game on my flatscreen TV (which is run into the house by an extension chord), frisbee, football, and soccer...
Ahhhh... how sweet it is...
Tempature 76 degrees...

Other than the Country Music and the Georgia Bulldogs (although those two do go together), I'm right there with you! Love to grill! Can't wait for you to join us down South where we grill year round!
